Error 0x80244018 Fix

To fix WinXP workstations and Win2x Servers that return errors such as
0x80244018 during Windows update attempts, use the following procedure...
1. Turn off automatic updates (MyComputer/Properties/AutomaticUpdates).
2. Go to a command prompt (Start/Run... Type CMD ...click OK)
3. At command prompt type... Proxycfg -d ...then press Enter
4. At command prompt type... Net Stop WUAUSERV ...then press Enter
5. Delete all files and folders in C:\Windows\Software Distribution, but do
not delete the Software Distribution folder itself. Files will recreate
automatically.
6. Reboot then download and install Windows updates normally.
7. Turn on automatic updates if desired.
