Error 0x80244023 When trying to do windows update

Hello! I am unable to get my windows updates. I am getting the error
message 0x80244023.

I am running windows xp. I have searched all the search engines I can think
of and am unable to find anything on this error message. Please help.

That "error" is supposed to apply in SUS environments. Is this pc in a company network environment? If so, contact the network administrator.

If not, is this pc on any network setup?

The "error" equates to "Http status 504 - timed out waiting for gateway".

Most helpful would be a snippet from the log for Windows Updates. Look at your log file for Windows Update.

Use Notepad or Wordpad and open & look at the Windows Update log file
C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log or C:\WINNT\WindowsUpdate.log

Scroll down all the way for the set of lines for the last session.
Get / copy / paste (ideally, put into a file & attach in reply ) back here the set of lines for the last session.
