error 0x8024402c windows update v.5

I have an XP Pro machine and an XP Home machine behind a

Proxy Server 2.0 . Windows update always worked

fine until V5 came out. Now I get error 0x80072efd or

0x8024402c depending on proxycfg -d or -p <server>. I've

tried several of the MS resolutions and tips listed on the

update newsgroup. Apparently Windows Update V5 doesn't

work through Microsoft's Proxy Server 2.0.

Win98 machines still update fine. Could this be their way

of trying to force us to upgrade to a newer Proxy? Is

there any way to get V5 to work with Proxy Server 2.0? Or

are there plans to fix V5 any time soon?
