Error: 0x8024402F - Update NO GO

Suddendly, of the 2 Computers I have, none of them no longer can use the
Windows Update and I get the error 0x8024402F. The machines have Genuine -
Windows XP - SP2 and Norton's AV 2006 installed. My first Windows Update on
this machine was KB834707 on 10/27/2004 and my last Windows Update to install
was KB908519 on 1/11/2006. Now I get nothing.

I followed ALL the suggestions listed by TaurArian. None of the sites
listed could find any spyware on my machine and even Microsoft's own
"Malware" found nothing. I ran Anti-virus checks too. Satisfied with the
scans I ran, I tried to install the Update Agent 2.0. However, I ran into
one problem, when I tried to install the package - I got a message stating:

Install is NOT needed since Windows Update Agent is already installed.

I Checked Add or Remove Programs to see if I could un-install the Update
Agent and then reinstall it. No way - I can't do it from the Windows Control
Panel; Add & Remove Programs. So now what do I do?

I checked Norton's site to see if there was something up with NAV 2006 -
which may be causing all this - there was nothing listed. Any ideas?

Thank you Robert for your help. As things turned out - I finally figured
out the problem. I completely forgot about my Firewall appliance on my
network and double checked the settings. The firewall had crashed in
mid-January and for whatever reason - some of the default settings were set
in place and it was filtering Acrtive X. When I stopped filtering Active X
- everything began to work as normal. Thank you for reading my post and
providing a solution. I learned something and have stored your fix for
another day. Renz.

I've encountered this error 2 week ago but still no solution from microsoft.
Have tried many suggestion in this discussion group but doesn't help. Now I
found it was due to Visio 2002. The reason I said that was I've tried to
install new XP OS in new computer with all patches. "Micosoft update" working
fine until I install Visio 2002. To reconfirm, I restore back to certain
point like before update, it give same error after installing Visio. But if I
using "Window Update" there no problem. Still pending Ms to reply. Meanwhile
anyone got the solution, please email me at . Thanks in
