error 0x80246002 on 18 updates. WTH?

I know this post may be vague but I received this error on--at first--23
updates out of 41. tried to install again as suggested and now have 18
updates that won't install. I have had this computer for less than a
month--one week--and have had one problem after the next but I will focus on
only this one for now. Where do I begin?!
