Hi,
First try to install service pack 2 from the link below:
Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals
and Developers
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
If the problem still persists take a look at the following article:
Error message when you try to install updates from the Windows Update Web
site on a Windows XP-based computer: "Windows Update has encountered an
error and cannot display the requested page"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914226

Hi,
Are you sure that you used the right product key? Here is an article
describing this issue:
You receive a "The product key used to install Windows is invalid" error
message
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=326904
If you used a wrong product key try changing it, following the article
below:
How to change the Volume Licensing product key on a computer that is running
Windows XP SP1 and later versions of Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328874/
Windows Product Key Update Tool
http://catalog.microsoft.com/genuine...tructions.aspx
If the above articles do not help the you have to perform an in-place
upgrade:
How to perform an in-place upgrade (reinstallation) of Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315341

I'm having sort of the same issue here. I recently rebuilt a pc XP SP2 ran
Windows Update (approximately 68 updates) and everything was fine. Rebooted.
I added some applications including MS Office so I wanted to run Microsoft
Updates. Installed MS Updates and did a Custom and now cannot get anymore
updates. Page cannot be displayed. The error code is 0x8DDD0009. I did a
search at MS Support and got no hits. Am curious if you have seen this one
before or can suggest anything else. thanks.

What is the context of that code in WindowsUpdate.log?
It seems to have been reported often enough that I guess I have to believe
that you are reading it correctly but it is not listed in any of the standard
resources. By interpolation in the same code space it could be anything
from a warning, a post install information message, or a transport error.

http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive/wuc.htm

Hint: Open in IE and do a Ctrl-f find for 8ddd000

However, did you also do a search of this newsgroup?
E.g. there have been numerous other reports of similar incidents
over the years, with suggestions given and no feedback.
That is usually interpreted as a good sign, that the suggestion
might have worked or the incident resolved but that the poster
didn't want to bother writing to say so.

(Google Groups search result for
(0x8ddd0009 OR 8DDD0009) (MSFT OR MVP) group:microsoft.*
- sorted by Date to try to capture current thinking
)
