Error 0x85010014 on attempting to sync

Hello,
I'm trying to get my Dell Axim X51v PDA to sync with Windows Vista. My
system specs are as follows:

Dell Axim X51v with MS Windows Mobile Version 5.0
OS 5.1.70 (Build 14410.1.1.3) (This is latest version provided by Dell)

Windows Vista Business Edition (RTM or Gold release)
Windows Mobile Device Centre version 6.0.6783 (The 'Gold' release?)

I've never had the Beta 3 version of WMDC on my system, I waited until the
final release version was released before installing and attempting to Sync.

I also have MS Office 2007 Professional Plus installed and use MS Outlook
2007 for syncing contacts, To Do Lists, Calendar etc, but NOT E-Mail.

Windows Vista was clean installed onto a repartitioned and formatted HDD, so
I know there is no detritus left over from Win XP Pro SP2 and Office 2003
Pro. But my Axim was syncing just fine under the previous setup with
ActiveSync 4.2.

I have deleted and recreated partnerships and re-booted my Vista system in
between but still no success. It gives the above mentioned error code in the
ActiveSync log on the PDA and gives a not too helpful error in the Vista Sync
Centre saying that 'ActiveSync encountered a problem on the Desktop'. The
full Sync Error Properties are:
Sync Error
Partnership: Jonty's Axim X51v
Sync Item: Jonty's Axim X51v
Severity: Error

Any suggestions as to how to make this work would be more gratefully
received! I've read through the one other post that I could find on this
forum that mentions the specific error code (from Shijaz Abdulla [MVP] -
Can't Sync Windows Mobile Device Centre Be....) but the suggestions given
there have not helped at all in my case.

You can use the information found here to generate verbose logs from WMDC:
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/wmdc/debug/index.htm

Email these logs to me and I'll see what may be going on.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your quick response. I've followed the instructions given in the
link you gave and have attached to this message the two log files that were
created on trying to do a Sync again after the re-boot.

Hope these help to solve the problem.

PS. One thing I forgot to mention in the original post is that I did receive
another error message on first trying to sync that stated:
"Synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to
log on to the network and access information. Restart your
desktop computer and synchronize again. If the problem persists,
contact your network administrator."
On clicking OK to this message the sync operation seemed to continue but
then gave the other errors as stated below. I've not received this error
message again since that first time. And I've also deleted the Partnership
and re-created that since getting the above error message.

I got the same error code on my Cingular 3125. I don't know where to find it
on my pc with Vista Home Premium. About all I can find there is that a
problem was encountered on the desktop. But attached are the debugging logs.

Please help. I have tried virtually everything I've seen in this ng and
still no relief.

Well I need to start over, when I tried to send the message it refused to
include the logs as attached files. So here they are by virtue of
copy/paste.
