Error 0X8DDD0009 and inability to install updates

SInce loading SP2 on my computer, I have been unable to do a windows update
scan. I opened a microsoft support case (SRZ050109002923) but the response
has been less than timely. I have not heard from "clyde" for more than a
week. So far, per his instructions, I have cleaned the third party programs
from the boot and disabled them all from running....no effect.

I also am having problems with windows installer. When attempting to use it,
I get an error that it is already running, and the installation must complete
before continuing.

The automatic update feature is turned on, and seems to be working,
post-SP2. However, I cannot check on non-critical updates due to the 0x8dd...
problem.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

"Leew",

I have reopened your case and taken responsibility for it. I'll be sending
you an email shortly.

Sincerely,

I am having the same EXACT problem. What can I do to fix this? The
auto-updates is on, but it hasn't given me any updates post-SP2, and when I
try to manually update, I get the Error 0X8DDD0009.

I just wanted to say thanks - finally someone that had the same problems as I
am experiencing. I will try this out today. I found the same issues with
the dll (it wasn't registered) and also had the same problem with the windows
installer dealing with Money 2002.

Thanks! I will try this out. I've seen some sort of warning pop up from MS
Money awhile ago, but I never use the program so I ignored it.
