Error, 0x8DDD0009, what is the problem?

New installation W2000, then service pack 4 and then IE6 service pack 1.
I then run Windows update and i get 26 high priority updates. I install them
and then when i try to run Microsoft update again i get, error 0x8DDD0009. I
did run check disk no prblems.

I realize this is a long-dead post, but I wanted to document the
solution I (finally) found to this problem so someone else might
benefit.

Uninstalling, then reinstalling the Windows Installer (3.1) resolved
the 0x8DDD0009 error on my Windows 2000 Pro computer.
