i am glad to see i am not the only one that is having issues with my windows
update. this is the error code that i am getting and this has only happened
this week. windows update will not stay on, i have had it on for a few
minutes but then goes back off. one guy told me that i am going to have to
do a pc restore which i donot want to do as my computer is running fine
otherwise. i think that this must have happened after i did my last window
update help i can not figure out what to do. i have emailed microsoft but
they didn't seem to give me the answer that i needed to fix the problem
ANYONE GOT ANY SOLUTIONS, IT WOULD BE A GREAT HELP THANKS

Windows version?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What
anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall
(if any)?

1. You may receive an error message that contains the "0x8DDD0018" code or
the "0x80246008" code when you try to download updates from the Microsoft
Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910337

2. Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827315

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30,
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html, or other appropriate forums for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

If the actual service will not stay started then it might be the Vundo
virus. Run the scan from:
safety.live.com
Then see if the problem persists.

I'd recommend only using the Protection scan myself.
