I get the following error messages when I try to unstall WLM that currently
doesn't work, or repair it, or try to install it?

"An error occurred while attempting to create the directory: C:\Programs
Files\Windows Live"

"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package.
This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2330."

Any ideas??? Thanks

My Version is:
Windows Live Messenger 8.5.1302.1018

Yeah dude I'm getting the exact same error. It won't run at all, I can't
reinstall it and when I try to completely uninstall it it does the same
thing. If you figure out how to fix it, give me a shout too.

Does any dialog open at all or you get the error when you click on the
Control Panel/Uninstall?

Thanks,

I too was trying to uninstall Apple's Quicktime since I received an error
code with that. I am running Windows VISTA and attempted to uninstall the
program using the Windows uninstall feature. Got the 2330 error code. Then
I went to the apple site to try and download the program again and again
tried to use that to first repair and then uninstall Quicktime. Again the
program failed to complete due to the error and reversed the uninstall
process. So I can neither uninstall or repair the program.

The problem is likely caused by corrupted files. Try running chkdsk (or
Start->Computer->(Right click on C->Properties->Tools->Error-checking, then
click on “Check Now” button).

Once the disk is verified (and possibly repaired), please retry the
uninstall and see if it works.

A windows dialogue box opened asking me first to confirm that I wanted to
uninstall QuickTime. I clicked yes. Then Windows installer opened up and
indicated it was trying to uninstall the program and asked me to confirm that
the software it was trying to open (I think Quicktime uninstallation process)
was OK to open. I confirmed yes. It then started the uninstall program.
The last thing that happened is that Quicktime dialogue box opens that says
the following: "The installyer has encountered an unexpected error
installing this package. This may indicate a problem in this package. The
error code is 2330." When I click on the OK button for the error code, it
reverses the uninstall process that had just previously attempted to execute.
Thinking this was an Apple error code, I went to the Apple site to find the
code and got nothing. Only found a reference to the error code on the
Microsoft site, so hopefully you can help me with this issue. Also, when I
open my computer, Quicktime must be in the "Startup" file as I get a message
to the effect that Quicktime has an issue working with Vista or there is a
problem with the software itself and that I should try to repair or reinstall
the software. Because of the error code, I can do neither.

Hi redheadclub,

Since some of your installation files appear to be corrupt, Windows is
unable to successfully uninstall the application.

Under these circumstances, I would recommend you to try Windows Installer
Cleanup Utility:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Please be sure to fully read, understand, and agree with the instructions
and disclaimer that comes with the tool. Use Windows Installer Cleanup
Utility at your own risk and as a very last resort only (never use it
otherwise). Make sure to backup your files and create a restore point if
possible prior to using the tool.

Windows Installer Cleanup Utility should be able to remove the
application(s) that you are not being able to remove by normal means.

Let me know if that works.
Regards,

Claudio Pacciarini
