Error 80048821 - cant login to Live Messenger (but can to Hotmail!

Please can someone help me solve a problem I have logging into Live Messenger
on my laptop running XP Pro. I can use any version of Messenger on all other
PCs (at home and work) but not this particular laptop.

I can still login to Hotmail on the troublesome laptop, just not Messenger.

I have tried resetting my Live password but it made no difference. Also
cleared cookies and temporary internet files. Other users of this laptop can
sign into Live Messenger so this must be something to do with my account on
this laptop.

Could try deleting:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger

Hi Darren,

Thanks for the suggestion - the folder you specified is missing on my laptop
but there was an MSN Messenger folder under the following:

C:\Documents and Settings\{my ID}\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger

I deleted that anyway but I'm afraid it made no difference.

You got any other suggestions?
