I've followed ALL of the various recommendations in this list without
success. The error persists. I should add that my machine is an intel-based
MacBook Pro running BootCamp 1.3, and there may be a coincidence between
updating the Apple drivers and this error code; who knows?

Can anyone suggest anything new?

Here's my last log entry:

Try the following:-

Click Start, select run and type the following (pressing okay after each one):-

net.exe stop wuauserv

regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 MSXML3.dll

net.exe start wuauserv

Try WU again.

Also, suggest you do some 'housecleaning' of the
WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution folder :

Go to Start > Run > type in

net stop wuauserv
Click OK or press Enter

With hidden files, folders, and system files enabled, navigate to
WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore
Delete *all* of the contents of DataStore
NOTE: Doing so will delete the update history shown on the WU/MU update
sites. If you want to preserve the update history, go to either site,
click the 'Review your update history' in the left frame, and then print
it out from the "Print Current | Print All" link in the right frame.

Next, delete the contents of
SoftwareDistribution\Download

Back to Start > Run > type in

net start wuauserv
Click OK or press Enter

Already done all of those things, no luck. Problem still exists.

Is Spybot S&D installed ? If so, Disable TeaTimer as it is the cause of
the 0x80070020 error code.

If not, then read on ...

0x80070003 - The specified path couldn't be found - ALLUSERSPROFILE
Microsoft network dir doesn’t exist

Please try this ... go to Start > Run > type in

cmd
Click OK or press Enter
At the command prompt, type in

%systemroot%\system32\rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection
DefaultInstall 132 %systemroot%\inf\qmgr.inf

Press Enter [NOTE: space between DefaultInstall and 132
space between 132 and %]

If/when prompted for the XP CD, point to the
WINDOWS\system32 subfolder

After the operation is done, type these in, pressing Enter after each one

regsvr32 qmgr.dll
regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll
exit
Restart the system.
Revisit Windows Update

Spybot is not installed. I am not able to copy the qmgr.dll file; windows
refuses to do so. Still unable to perform an update. VERY frustrating.
