Some users have cured the problem by just re-registering the wuapi.dll
Click start, select Run and then type: regsvr32 wuapi.dll
Try Windows Update again
If that hasn't help you will need to re-register some more files (click OK after each one
and wait for the successful message):-
regsvr32 Inseng.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Ole32.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Mssip32.dll
Note: not for IE7
This is for Ted Cooper as he is using WinXP.
I have nothing for Vista.
