Thanks for the reply, Michel... I've tried the suggestions in the thread
you recommended I review... I've tried loading RealTek drivers, drivers from
HP, drivers from Toshiba, drivers from Semitek, and disabling driver signage
checking. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I can't get any of them to work.
Do you know a way to force installation of XP drivers onto a Vista system.
One thread said they had luck installing XP and then upgrading to Vista...
something like the Vista driver update worked then becasue there were already
existing drivers on the system.
Also, I'm trying to go back to just the Vista drivers (although my Mic did
not work with the basic Vista drivers), but now, even though I have deleted
the Gateway Conexant drivers, I still get the same error (file not found)
from device manager. Seems like there is now a pointer fixed somewhere in
the registry(?) that isn't allowing a default back to the standard Vista
drivers (even after I uninstall the Multimedia Audio Controller.)
