Error 80072efd

I get the above error when using ActiveSync 4.5 to sync via USB cable with my
exchange server.
OTA sync via GPRS works fine, but USB sync results in the above error.
Any help would be appreciated...

In most cases, 80072EFD is connection issue. You may also check some cases
here.
Activesync Troubleshooting
The server you are synchronizing with is not an Exchange ActiveSync
server, or is running incompatible software. Specify the correct server in
ActiveSync ...

I don't believe it's a connection issue, as everything else through the USB
cable works fine.
I have checked and the server is comaptible with Active Sync and is running
compatible software.
ActiveSync works fine via GPRS and WiFi - just not when connected via USB.
