Error 80072F78 Still happening

Dear All,

I am in the same boat as everyone that has gone through the huge amount of
replies and still nothing works we are still getting Error 80072F78

I have removed the software distribution folder on several machines - No
luck there.
All MS site are Trusted.

I have been through all the articles on Windowsupdate.com.



Basically....

We can get to the windowsupdate site. We can run express (or custom) updates.
This is where things start getting interesting....

If we select Critical Updates... They DONT work
If we select Drivers... They DO work

We have tried this on machines running SP1a and SP2.

We can configure it to go via an ISA or NOT still the same result. Generally
we go direct. We have used proxycfg to prove we are going direct also.

Checked the branches.inf also... nothing wrong there... (from some other
post.)

I am still getting the error. So if you have any other suggestions.

thanks for this information but I should have pointed out that we have tried
all of these recommendations.

The error occurs if we go through a ISA or NOT.

We can use V4 and it WORKS
We can use V6 (beta) it WORKS

V5 does not work.

A broken or overridden DNS lookup could explain your symptom.
Use nslookup to check what your DNS returns
Use ping or tracert to see what is actually being used.
