      10-24-2008
Windows Vista 32 bit premium... keeps failing and I have tried manually
downloading and installing, disabling anti-virus...

Any suggestions would be helpful?

Oh - and installing Service pack one and every other update AFTER it doesn't
seem to work either

site:

To make sure you receive the appropriate support information for your

bleh... it's out of hte support period... probably easier to just wipe it and
reinstall *sigh*

If the problems relate to a security update, free support is available indefinitely.

I suspect you missed the point of the link.
It doesn't look like an "update" to me.
It looks like a download that you would install and use
to supplement any diagnostics that you are currently seeing.

Hence, if you ran the tool you would probably need to inspect
the logs the article says it produces and show us what they say
if you need more help.
