I cannot use Windows Update since August. After scanning it says: Windows
Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page; error
nr. 0x800A01AD.

Hi

Please try the following:

1)
Click Start >> Run >>
Type the follow command in the Open box.
"net.exe stop wuauserv" (w/o quotes)
Press Ok

Repeat the same for the following commands:

regsvr32.exe wuapi.dll
regsvr32.exe wups.dll
regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
regsvr32.exe wucltui.dll
regsvr32.exe MSXML3.dll
net.exe start wuauserv

Restart the machine and try WU site again.

2)
If it still doesn't work, see if this one helps:

When searching for available updates on the Windows Update site,
you see the 0x800A01AD error while looking for updates
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...cleid=13&ln=en

3)
If it still doesn't work, see if this one helps:

Go to
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm#C...Service_Pack_2

Look for fixdb.bat under "Error 0x800710D9 Unable to read from
or write to the database". Download and run it.

The first alternative solution you gave was enough to solve the problem.
Thank you very much!

Also wanted to say Thanks!
I tried the first solution too. It worked. In fact right after restarting
a message came up that Automatic Updates were ready to install!

Unfortunatly I tried all of the suggestions below and they did not work for
me. I anyone has any other ideas I would appreciate it. But it looks like I'm
looking at a possible reinstall of my OS. I have Microsoft tech support
working on the probelm and they are at a lost of a solution. Thank you in
advance for any help i can get.
