Error 8024400E When Trying to Download Updates Via WSUS?

The Vista workstation I'm on now can't seem to acquire updates via our WSUS
server on the network. However, another Vista workstation we have and ALL XP
workstations are updating just fine. (I've verified this on the WSUS 3.0
console.) Would there be anything on Vista that I would need to enable in
order to successfully grab those updates?

By the way, information on the Web regarding this particular area is dry.
Trust me, I've searched.

Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Jason,

This exchange was written with XP in mind, but I would try it in Vista:

To rename the folder, you may need to work from an elevated command prompt.

Hello,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

Based on my knowledge, there is no specific setting on Windows Vista
client. If you enable the automatic update service, it will detect the new
updates from the WSUS server. As far as I know, you may check the client
update status on the WSUS server. For more information about WSUS, also you
may post to the following newsgroup where other experienced peers will
share their experience.
Microsoft.public.windows.server.update_services

Rick,

Many thanks for the reply! This seems like it would do the trick but the
last post of that thread states that I would lose my history of updates.
For now, I'm going to take Ken's advice and post in
microsoft.public.windows.server.update_services to see if there's another
solution. If not, I'll be fine with losing the history and I'll definitely
do what's suggested there at the link you provided!

Thanks again - to both Ken & Rick!
