Just installed Vista Home Premium 64-bit Dutch OEM (I am a System Builder)
I manually activated Vista (did not reboot afterwards)
When I manually run Windows Update I receive error 80244028.

Has someone seen this same error?

I turned off the computer yesterday evening and when I turned it on this
morning, letting it be for a while and then started Windows Update, all was
fine.
Still strange, but the problem is solved.

error: 80244028

yo brother he is the solution just disable your security on IE7 coz that's
what you have.

go to internet options , security tab, and put the slide bar to medium
instead of medium high, make sure protected mode is unchecked that's what's
causing the issue if it's enabled.

works like a charm

good luck

Thanx for response, but that is not the issue. When you go to the Windows
Update website, you are redirected to your local system properties to update
your system.
It is al about activating. After activating the updates are available
instantly.

Regards.

This happens if your Windows Security settings for Windows Update are set to "Never check for updates". Change to any other setting - I use the option that lets me choose.

That worked. Try starting IExplore and set phishing filetr (on off, doesnt matter) then go to properties on updates and CHANGE it from whatever you have it set to now to ANYTHING else (related to previous post: I did have mine set to choose what to install and it wasnt working, so i changed it to automatic)
