Click Start, select Run, type in: services.msc
then press enter
Now look for the Automatic Updates Service, right click it and choose to stop

Click Start, select Run, type in: %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
then press enter
Open the DataStorage folder and delete its contents.

Click Start, select Run, type in: type services.msc
then press enter
Now look again for the Automatic Update Service and choose to start

Try running the Updates again.

If in doubt, cut and paste the contents of the datastorage folder to another
location so that you can copy them back if required.

No guarantees, but it’s worth a try.

First try this, and please give feedback as to whether it works. Thanks.

Using Windows explorer or through My Computer, go to the \windows\inf
directory, find the file branches.inf, right click
it, go to properties, uncheck the read only box and run the updates.

Ken

I had error code 80246005 and I did what you proposed.
I tried to run the updates and it didn't work. Now I get error code
80248014, which I don't even find in the error codes list.
Do you haver any idea of how to proceed?
Do I copy the DataStorage files again in the folder? I copied them in a
temporary folder.
