Error 863

I get this message when I try to down load an update, where do I go from here?

What update on what OS might be a good starting point?
By what method have you tried to download/install this update.
The crystal ball is all fogged over with the current updates going ape-sxxx.

Ouch, there I go again. I thought since I was on the Vista Site, it would be
assumed that I am using Vista as an Operating system. And since I titled the
question box with Error 863 I thought It would be understood that I was
having an error message number 863 come up when I was offered updates on my
Vista Operating System. I do not know what the update pertains to, only that
when I try to down load it, it fails to install, and I get the error message.

No you have posted in the updates group which is correct but the updates are
for ALL Windows OS, hence the question.

You say -when I try to down load - it sounds as if you are still trying.
Is this update still on offer - via the yellow shield - if so then you must
be able to read the KB number.
In view of the fact you do not seem to know what you let MS download onto
your system, the KB number would be usefull.
In addition, does anything show in your event viewer, or whatever it is
called in Vista. There may be an error/event number there

You have not said how you tried to download - from where did you get the
update and how have you tried to DL/Install.

863 is certainly and obscure one - not on the MS list of error codes - yet
:-)
