Error attempting to install update KB896424.

I have been unable to install security update KB896424. I'm using Windows
XP. Half way through installation, a box ops up saying "Copy error", and
that win32.sys (or something like that) was unable to be copied. It asks
whether I should continue the update without copying that file, but
regardless of which choice I make, the update fails.

I have looked in the log file but can't really make heads or tails of it, so
I'll just copy and paste part of it:

Can anyone advise me on what I should do to be able to install this update?

0x80070017 - ERROR_CRC - Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

You either have a bad download of the update or you need to check your HD.

Try downloading the update from the download site

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

and see if you can install it.
