Error Code: 0x800700 installing Security update for IE6 SP1 (KB896

I get the same error code trying to install any update (currently 6 updates
are available)
I'm running WIN2000 SP4

any help is appreciated.

I keep trying to install SP 2 (Need SP4) for Windows XP home and am recieving
0x80070017. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I need SP 4 for varios programs. Thank god this is just for home use! I am
an artist and I use all sorts of media, but NEVER anything with PC's. I even
handwrite my notes. The work takes twice as long.

Same as you, Frank, these three updates are most important to me, up I have
had to ignore a lot more.

0x80070017 -2147024873 - ERROR_CRC

Clean out your temporary internet files. Do some hard disk maintenance, like error checking and
defrag.
0x80070017 relates to a Data error either on the hardrive or with the file you've downloaded.

Try downloading the full file and installing after you've done the above.
