Error Code: 0x80070663 When Installing SP3 on Office XP Profession

Trying to install SP3 using the Windows Update, and get error code: 0x80070663.
Since Windows product disks were part of Dell PC, it appears that support
will have to be through them. However, there is a MS post that says MS
support is free if you're having problems installing SP3 on Office XP
Professional 2002, until April 14, 2009. Just a bit confusing.
The auto update claims that there are important security updates in SP3 that
need to be installed, but I can't find anything definitive in the posts, that
will help me circumvent this problem.
Looking for some expert help.

Error Code: 0x80070663 means "the patch package open failed". eg, somewhere
in the process, the update file could not be opened, OR, was not found on
your system.

If SP3 did not come preinstalled on the machine when you bought it (which
would have been after early May-08), the free MS support applies to you.

WinXP SP3 - Read all prerequisites for a successful installation

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3) and *only until* 14 Apr-09.
Go to http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...spx?gprid=1173 | select
"Windows XP" then select "Windows XP Service Pack 3"

You think you're confused! Are you installing SP3 for Windows XP or SP3 for
Office XP?

If for Office - Error message when you try to install some of the Office
2003 or Office XP updates: "No valid sequence could be found for the set of
patches"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913754
0x80070670 or error 0x80070663

The free support is for Windows XP SP3 not Office XP SP3. "Free unlimited
installation and compatibility support is available for Windows XP, but only
for Service Pack 3 (SP3). This support for SP3 is valid until April 14,
2009"

Note, no mention of Office XP SP3.

OTOH, if you were referring to Office XP, not WinXP, SP3...

How to troubleshoot failures updating your Office installation...

Tip: Insert your Office XP CD into the appropriate drive bay before
attempting to install SP3 again.
