Error Code: 0x8007F0F4 for Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB936929)

Hi,

I am trying to install the Service Pack 3 for Windows XP.

My explorer is version 7.0.5730.11 and so far all updates loaded fine. I
have the latest authentication software, but still when I try to install the
Service Pack I see the status bar to look like that it downloads it. But long
before it should finish the download it stops and the installation failed
message.

From the pages I see that the problem is Error Code: 0x8007F0F4 but I cannot
seem to remedy this.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 installation fails with an error message, and the following
error is logged in the service pack installation log: "8007F0F4 -
STATUS_PREREQUISITE_FAILED"

Thanks, TaurArian. I have a further question, and I hope you are still
getting updates on this topic:

When my SBS2003 Update Services reports the error code above, it does not
include the subsequent text "STATUS...." Are there -other- reasons why
Service Pack 3 for XP would produce this error that are not addressed in the
KB article you mentioned? I.e., is that article really addressed specifically
only to the "STATUS...FAILED" error exlusively, and how can I further dig to
see if I really got that message? The System and Application logs contain no
mention of the error. I only see it WSUS manager. Thanks!
