error code 0x80240038

please please can anyone help? i'm trying to install updates to my computer
but i keep recieving error code 0x80240038 please help me

I found this here;

Step 8: Register dll files
--------------------------------
1) Close all instances of Internet Explorer.
2) Click Start and Run, type 'Regsvr32 wuapi.dll' (without quotes) in the
Open box and click OK.
Note: There is a space between regsvr32 and the .dll file

3) Similarly one by one register the files listed below:

Regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
Regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
Regsvr32 wucltui.dll
Regsvr32 wups.dll
Regsvr32 wuweb.dll
Regsvr32 jscript.dll
Regsvr32 atl.dll

Try the Windows Update site now.

Thanks I did the above and it worked and I am now able to update but !. can
you tell me why after a few years and many updates, my system failed and I
got the error message ??
