We have a Windows 2000 server with SP4 that has recently had to be
re-installed. It is a member of a Domain, but has no DC services. Some
updates have been installed, but now there are some 40+ additional updates
required, and they all return Error Code: 0x80246008.

I've tried already to flush the SoftwareDistribution folder, stop,
re-register, and re-start Windows Updates services without improvement.
There appears to be no other postings about this error. Has anyone ran into
it before, or can someone suggest a solution?

TIA.

Why did Windows need to be reinstalled?

Was IE6 SP1 installed before you reinstalled Windows?

If it was, did you (1) uninstall all Service Packs that were installed after
IE6 SP1 was installed /and then/ (2) uninstall IE6 SP1 /before/ you (3)
reinstalled Windows?
