Error Code 0x8024D00C - Unable to use Microsoft Update

My computer brings up this error code everytime I try to use Microsoft
Update. I am trying to install software and it tells me I need Microsoft
Windows Installer, but I can't download it because Microsoft Update won't let
me.

I have followed the instructions on the Microsoft website specific to this
error code, involving stopping Automatic Updates Properties and Background
Intelligent Transfer Service and changing the files names of wuweb.dll to
wuweb.old etc etc...but it did not help.

Does anybody have any idea what I should do??

Check that "Cryptographic Services" service is set to automatic and is started.
Click Start, select run and type: services.msc
OK.
