Error code 0xD0000006 for security update for window xp

i got a problem of automatic update for security update KB943460 and
KB933729. i tried several times to update it but it seems never works and
keep telling me the same error code no., so what should I do for this?

The code : Error_Invalid_Handle - one possibility - bad hard drive

May be a problem with hard drive - important files may be located on bad blocks.

Try running the "chkdsk /r" command at the command prompt

You will need to open the command prompt by typing "cmd" in start->Run

From one Auusie to another..many thanks for this...I had same problem trying
to install KB943460, and chdsk :c /r recovered the bad disk sectors.
Incidentally, both chkdsk & Norton backup told me the corrupted disk area was
associated with a previous KB update file. In the forums, a lot of people
seem to experience this error. Is it just coincidental that everyon'e disk
drives are getting bad blocks, or is the Update process causing some
corruption. chkdsk says the rest of my disk is perfectly OK & everything
else on my PC is working fine. Also, for anyone else reading this, when
running chkdsk with /r option, be patient. Although file checking ran at
approx 1% completed (Stage 4 of 5) every one or 2 minutes on my PC, it was
stuck at 24% for about 1.5 to 2 hours...I assume this was when fixing up the
bad area.
