Error Code: 80004005 SP-2 does not install successfully

I have been trying many times to download Sp2 but after
36% of installation it does not goes further and mssg
comes not installed successfully.I tried many times but
was of no use.Can any one help me out????

Hi

I suggest you use the full SP2 installer instead of Windows Update.

SP2 is available at the Microsoft Download Center
(standalone "network" version, 266 MB):

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...5-9e368d3cdb5a

If you do not have broadband at home, but you have at work or you have
friends that have it, you can download it there and burn it to a CD.

If you think that the download is to large, you can get the same
file on a CD from Microsoft.

The Windows XP SP2 CD order point:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...s/default.mspx


Also, you should clean out this folder (WU5's temporary download
folder) to get rid of the SP2 temporary installation files from
your previous download (if installed from Windows Update):

%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\Download\

(%windir% is typically C:\Windows)


For folders you can consider deleting and other disk cleanup tips
after a SP2 installation, take a look here:
