Error Code 80040154 Windows could not search for new updates

I am getting error code 80040154 when I try to use Windows Update. Vista
Business SP1. I have not been able to find any info on this code. I click
on Check for Updates and then I get the error. It indicates "Never" for most
recent check for updates and Updates were installed. I tried to view
downloaded updates but there were none in the list.

There is a very good chance are that you are seeing the affects of a
hijackware infection.

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:

2. Run the Windows Live Safety Center's 'Protection' scan (only!) in Safe
Mode with Networking, if need be:

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested
logs in an appropriate forum, not here.
