SIW2 --- thanks for replying and sending the link to additional information.
sorry i didn't include much to go on in my post. i had posted something with
more detail last week and got no replies, so i thought the minimalist
approach may get quicker attention. you are right that the error code is
associated with access to Hotmail/Live. i have been unable to access my
regular account for more than a week. i had to create this new one just to
be able to try to find assistance in getting back to my usual account.
this is the problem: When logging on to my Hotmail account I get an error
message 80048831. When I OK that, I’m sent to a page that states that
account information is missing. I’m instructed to retype my password. When
I do that, the only option is to hit ‘I Accept’ (the terms of usage of
Windows Live). When I hit ‘I Accept’, I’m asked to select a new password.
When I do that, and hit ‘I Accept’ again, I’m immediately sent back to the
‘Missing Information’ page. I have tried logging on several times from 2
different computers, carefully ensuring that my password is typed correctly,
without gaining access to my Hotmail account. I did recently download an MS
update to my home computer, but since I tried to log on from a completely
different computer, it doesn’t seem that this would be the problem.
i did finally get access to an MS webpage for e-mail support and have sent
this message to them. i was very frustrated in that it took me forever to
link to the support page. i don't know if MS was having problems with tech
support last week or not, but i was about ready to beat my head against my
comp screen until it was a bloody pulp. going in circles, circles.
anyway, if you see something specific in my problem you can address (or the
previous link you provided addresses) let me know, cause if i don't get a
reply from tech spt, then i'll still be desperate. thx again.
