I am using 32bit Vista home Premium SP2 on Dell XPS M1530. I am also using
McAfee Security Center V9.3 with no recent changes.

Issues:
1. I just noticed a balloon showing "Window can't check for updates" on
Windows update in taskbar. While double clicking it, checking for window
update shows error found: 8007005, "try again". No success with multiple
tries, restarting the computer or having my McAfee SC off.

2. In "View Update History", I noticed that "security update for Window
Vista (KB 961371) - failed" was dated on 18 JULY 2009. Interestingly, there
are successful 9 Windows Defender update KB915597 dated most recently to 18
AUG 2009! And I only notice the "fail to update" balloon yesterday (19 AUG
09). Which one is the source of error? For your information, I tried to
download KB961371 or other latest updates manually but "The updates does not
apply to your system" appear.

3. If I were to click "Installed Updates", there is only an empty list!

Please advise the method to ensure I can have my windows updated as safely
as possible, thank you.

I am getting the same error code using Vista 32 Ultimate on an HP media
center PC. My update log shows successful updates up to todays date, but I
keep getting a balloon saying that update is not working!
