Error Code 8007000B When installing updates

I have Windows XP and SP2 w/IE7 and when I am trying to check for updates I
get Error Code 8007000B. I do not have no Vista or Vista Premium. Help! This
is so frustrating!

If you're running a third-party firewall, disable it temporarily and enable
the Windows Firewall.

If you connect via a router, connect directly to the modem.

I also have this problem have emailed micrsosft sent me a patch didnot help
have email back awaiting reply

I too am recieving this error code, and tried the suggestions below to no
avail. Any other ideas?

As usual the error code only gives broad hints about what is wrong.
You can guess about its meaning or look for the context in which it is given
in the logs that the install attempt will have created or added to.

As PA Bear has indicated one reasonable interpretation of the code
given the above general meaning would be that the either the downloaded
update executable or its contents have been corrupted somehow by security
programs. So, the suggestion under that hypothesis is to remove all likely
sources of such corruption and try both the download and install again.
You could also try an alternate source of download by downloading the update
manually and avoiding WU or AU entirely.
