Same here, been in touch with tech support 2 times, the first time, he
was "perplexed", and couldnt resovle the issue. Second time, got an
email from someone higher up the food chain, he asked for all kinds of
info such as my Windows update log, and sys config info. He gave me a
list of stuff to try, but none of it worked, so I sent the stuff to
him and I'm still waiting. Been just over 24 hours now. Will keep ya
posted if they fix it.

Thanks so much. Yeah I have searched all over for this error and have not
found it any place.

So, why not post those suggestions for the OP?
They may work for someone else too.

Has your support person given you more details about your error?
Just because you have the same error code as the OP doesn't mean
that you have the same problem, especially with this code:

http://docxp.mvps.org/WU5-ERR.htm

<quote>
0x8007000B -2147024885 COR E BADIMAGEFORMAT
The format of the DLL or executable being loaded is invalid
</quote>

E.g. are you both failing for the same .dll or for a different one?
Same component at least? Etc.

Post better details if you want more help.

Yes, please post any fixes you have, this problem is driving me crazy. And I
think it might also be manifesting itself elsewhere, as I can't alter the
installed Windows features (Control Panel --> Programs and Features --> Turn
Windows features on or off), I can select and deselect items as I wish, but
the installer errors when the progress bar is almost complete.

The worrying thing is, at the same time as trying to do the Windows updates,
or alter the Windows features, there are multiple errors in the system event
log saying "The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable.
Please reun the chkdsk utility...." for my system drive, sometimes reffering
to it by it's letter, sometimes by the volume name. I should point out that
this is not a drive as such, but two in a RAID 1 array, using my
motherboard's nForce4 SATA RAID controller. A few times, these errors are
later followed by a warning "The file system structure on volume (name) has
now been repaired." But I am now used to seeing chkdsk run when booting the
PC in the morning!

Hope someone can offer some insight here!

Regards,
Chris Minett

Can you translate that into a .dll or .exe?
E.g. try to find instances of it in the registry
and any associated .dll

Alternatively you may get some clues about the module involved
by running ProcMon (Process Monitor, now being distributed from TechNet.)

Good luck

I have the same thing. Most of the windows updates are failing and I can't
turn Windows Features on and off. Has MS tech support responded to this yet?

Same problem here. I only experience it on my laptop though (32-bit Vista
Ultimate),
my 64-bit Vista Ultimate desktop at work has no problems, neither does my
32-bit
Vista Ultimate desktop at home. This is driving me nuts ...

This looks as if the code being reported is a secondary code.
The first code may be a primary code, in which case there are
standard resolutions which you could try.

Try a search?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910336

(Live Search for
0x80070002 site:support.microsoft.com
)

That's just the most common suggestion, clear or rename
the SoftwareDistribution folder.

Otherwise, as usual, I think that this log does not show enough detail.
E.g. 0x80070002 may mean file not found but then *which* file is not being found?

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms695782.aspx

In order to answer that question I think you would need to activate
verbose logging (ref. KB902093) or, what I would do, run ProcMon
(or FileMon) to see what other file access errors are occurring just before
that log record is written. Note that although ProcMon can show you
AU's log records being written you will still need to *infer* which ones
are which based on the order they are written and their respective sizes.

BTW I don't know how usable ProcMon is with your OS.
Seems it may be?

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys...ssmonitor.mspx

(Live Search for
("process monitor" OR procmon) vista
)

Good luck
