I cannot sign into messenger. It says the service is unavailable with error
code: 8007007e. It's been down for over a week. What should I be doing to
connect? MSN is the only method of communication I have with my mother, as
she is halfway across the world. Please help!

Greetings Melissa,

This error indicates a problem with Messenger on your machine, not a problem with the
service.

You may be able to quickly solve the problem by installing the following components simply by
downloading the MSI files linked following and just running them to install:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/w3rc/dw20.asp
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/w3rc/msvcrt.asp
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/red...e/contacts.asp

After these are installed, try Messenger again.

I am having the same problem, and I've tried installing all 3 of those links
you posted and I still get the same error message, and I've uninstalled and
reinstalled it a few times, and I can't seem to get it to sign in no matter
what, I always get that error code. Is there something else I can try? It
worked fine for months it just started doing this the other day.

THE SOLUTION - Even if zapmessenger doesn't work for you.

Okay, I finally figured out how to fix it on my computer after about a week.
I found Jonathon's other site....
http://messengergeek.spaces.live.com...DA1!1723.entry
and I went there and I uninstalled everything I had on my computer on that
page using the run commands. That took about 10 minutes, then I scrolled back
up to the windows live and downloaded the messenger.msi and all the .msi
files for what he says I also need to install. Then I ran all the other .msi
files first (you can install all these before the messenger.msi is finished
downloading) And then I ran the messenger.msi last. Then I went
Start>Programs>Windows Live> Messenger, opened it up, and signed in and
BEHOLD! NO ERROR CODE 8007007e! Soo I finally got it back up and running.
Hope that helps!
