Hello Everyone,

I am attempting to update through Windows Update Vista Service Pack
1. When attempting to install, I receive the Error Code 80070570. I
have found one other thread out on the Internet with the same problem,
but no solution. Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Maybe
a better place to start is how can I find out more debugging
information, to find out what the real issue is?
Thanks.

0x80070570 - ERROR_FILE_CORRUPT

1. You could try clearing the softwaredistribution folder in case there is anything
corrupt there (in case you require it instructions at the end of posting).

2. Information - Learn how to install Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1)
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/win...6f2021033.mspx

Also see how to manually install SP1 towards the bottom of the page, it will give you
links to the SP1 package.

If the above hasn't assisted -

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (All Languages)

How to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder in Vista -
1. Stop the Windows Update service (make sure you are logged on as an Administrator)

Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative Tools
Double-click Services
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Stop.

2. Click Start, type %windir% in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

Locate and rename the SoftwareDistribution folder.

3. Start the Windows Update service

Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative Tools
Double-click Services
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Start.

This procedure will erase your history on the Windows Update Site. Not important.

You can check which updates are installed on your computer by -
Start button || Control Panel || Programs
Under Programs and Features - click View installed updates.

Thank you for giving me the suggestions, but I successfully got it to
work! I looked into the Event Manager, and there was an Error there.
I read the message in the Event Viewer, and it spoke of an error
happening during update: Reboot Your Computer.
Helpful mesage, I thought. So, I rebooted my computer, and went to
bed. In the morning, when I woke up, it had installed, so it seems to
have done the trick. One thing that I am curious about, though is
that I had shut down my computer two times already since I had been
trying to install Windows Vista SP1. What happens in the Windows
Vista Reboot that does not happen during the shutdown process?
Shouldn't this be the same?
