error code: 80072745 when logging in to messenger live 8.0 & 8.1

I have just purchased a new pc with vista and whenever I try to access
messenger live get the above error code. every other application can access
the internet via my lan. Tried numerous fixes from the internet including
installing version 8.0 all to no avail. checked the firewall NIS and
everything is correct as per settings on another support post also disabled
firewall with same result. Tried removing various keys from another support
post to no avail. Have also got the same problem on my sons pc running Xp
home.

If anyone can help they will deserve a big wet sloppy kiss from the person
of their dreams...

I have the exact same problem!

Everywhere I look people have this problem, but no soultion. There REALLY
needs to be a patch and soon... I'm getting tired of it.
