For it worked, I had blocked svchost.exe via the firewall, after unblocking
this, I could update again.

I had the same problem, I also tried everything on the MSupdate site and
everything I could find here. Nothing worked and then I looked at my internet
connection (PPPOE), there is an option "Limit TCP Maximum Segment Size (MSS)
and after I checked the box, everything worked OK. Don't know why, but it
worked for me.
