Attempting to check for update for Vista we just got Dec. 20/07. After
searching for 1/2 hour error code 80072F78 comes up with Windows could not
search for new updates.

I have synchronized date, time & internet zone but still will not get updates
- same error message. Does it matter what time zone I use if I bought
computer in Arizona but want PST as am from B. C.?

Hi Barbwire,

Is not a *big* deal. I have to use (GMT + 13:00) Nukualofa and my location
is the PST 33°22′29.7″N, 118°25′11.6″W.

I suggest Open a free Support Incident, Customers in the U.S. and Canada can
receive technical support from Microsoft Product Support Services at
1-866-PCSAFETY.

There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with security
updates or using Automatic Updates. When you call, clearly state your
problem.

Tell them what you see in Event Viewer.

In other countries, see <http://support.microsoft.com/security> "No-Charge
Support...for virus and other security-related" issues in right-hand menu for
localized contact information.

visit the International Support Web site:

Thanks anyway, I do have an email into them, but they take their sweet time
getting back.

Just tried for update for Windows Defender & received the same error code
0x80072f78 - this is really getting frustrating. Not impressed with Vista!
