error code 80073712 repeatedly

I have vista home basics on updates tells me new update service pk 1 but
will not install constantly comes up error code. tryed restart and still
error, then ran system file check as instructed, this came up found corrupt
files and unable to fix some. notes are in CBS log, cant find this either.
tried to reinstall update again but no luck. still coming up error code
80073712. can anyone help please.

I tried 3 times to download & install the Vista SP1. It successfully
downloads & installs. Then it prompts me to restart my computer. It then
goes through 3 stages. It is to complete the installation. It is after it
goes through the 3rd Stage on restarting. It has now happened 3 times. I
get the message: Installation Failed. Reverting Changes. I got the version
through Windows Updates. It is if this problem only happened once. There
may be a problem on my end. But it is when it has happened 3 times. The
problem seems to be on Windows' end. It is since I followed all the
instructions. I do everyting right on my end. It is as instructed. But it
still fails to complete installing. Does Windows plan to fix this problem?
And it's if so. When will it?
