Error Code 8007F0CC when trying to download XP SP2

Error Code 8007F0CC

Error occurs when trying to download XP SP2. Review of AutoUpdates shows
every attempt fails, and when trying to manually update, dialog screen shows
step 1 of 1 - downloading - failed.

Dell 4600, XP SP1, 1.6GHz, 512 MB

Error 0x8007f0cc is:

STATUS_KERNEL_NONSTD
The core system file (kernel) used to start this computer is not a
Microsoft Windows file. The Service Pack will not be installed.


If you have a modifies boot screen or something like that, this
might be the cause:
