the above message plus the following happen while trying to install the .net
bundle, both on autoupdate and from the site manually.

from browsing the other posts i see many people having similar problems,
many suggestions made but i have noticed no one coming back to say it was
corrected. help! anyone, anyone?

found a couple of fixes, to no avail

renamed catroot2, no change

opened services.msc and verified that background intelligent transfer
service and automatic updates were enabled, no change

register active x controls, all were ok EXCEPT regsvr32 WUAPI.DLL ....return
code was 0x80070005.....WUWEB.dll.......same code
