Trying to install SP2 on XP Pro, I get this Error Code: 80200001, but can't
find any reference to it anywhere.
(Why the heck doesn't Microsoft give the info as part of reporting the code!
Are they mean, cheap or just lazy?)
Anyway, any help is appreciated.

Hi

It looks like you have a BITS issue (Background Intelligent
Transfer Service)

BITS Return Values
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...asp?frame=true

BG_E_NOT_FOUND
0x80200001
The requested job was not found.

I suggest you download the full SP2 installation and use it
to install SP2.

SP2 is available at the Microsoft Download Center
(standalone"network" version, 266 MB):

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...5-9e368d3cdb5a

If you think that download is to large, you can get the same
file on a CD from Microsoft.

The Windows XP SP2 CD order point:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...s/default.mspx

Also, you should clean out this folder (WU5's temporary download
folder) to get rid of the SP2 temporary installation files from
your failed installation:

%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\Download\

(%windir% is typically C:\Windows)

Hi,
We are interested in investigating this problem.
Can you please send me C:\windows\WindowsUpdate.log and
C:\windows\svcpack.log via email
Please remove "online" from my email address to get the correct address.
