I have a fairly new Computer running Windows Vista fromManufacturer. Get on
this morning Windows Update tells me downloads are ready for installation.
It get just past the restore point but the download never begins. I wrote
down exactly what the window which popped up said, it goes as follows.

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is
unavailable. Click ok to try again or enter an alternative path to a folder
containing the installation package "WORKS8.MSI"

"Windows Update 8024002D" "Windows Update_dt100"

I have no purchased software programs such as Office, Works, Excel, Outlook
Express, they are all present on computer, but that is how it was when I
purchased computer. I am just an ordinary everyday person, so please make
any help in very simple laymens terms. Thank you for your attention and
assistance in this problem.

Your intelligence is highly appreciated here!!!

Sincerely,
Tired & Confused

2 - Save the KB955428_en-US.cab (if you have english language) on your
Desktop
3 - Unzip the file and run it (double click on KB955428_en-US.msp)

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

Go to the Microsoft download center and look up the number of the update that
isn't installing. Download the full installer and try using that instead of
Windows Update.

If this doesn't work, other users have reported that reinstalling MS Works helped.

If the update that is failing is 955428, this is the link:
