Hi
I have spent days going through all the suggestions on this disscussion
group and to no avail!

I have traced the windows update problem back to when I installed SP2, my PC
became a little slow and would tend to freeze for no reason, especially when
trying to run many things at once. (multiple windows open at the same time)
I can't install any windows updates because I get the above message. Another
problem I get is Windows Media Player 9 will not install. I have downloaded
it twice and it keeps saying unable to install please try again, which I do
but still nothing.

I also have a SP2 disc from a pC magazine, but after about 2 mins on
installing I get the message unable to install SP2, it says some components
have been updated but windows may not work properly. When I originally
installed SP2 I downloaded it from the Microsoft website, all installed fine,
apart from the "sloeish PC problem.

As SP2 is in my add and remove programs should I try ans un-install first??
The thing that worries me is during installation loads of files were deleted
while SP2 installed/updated my system, so not too sure what to do.

I have a XP home, ATI 9800Pro, AMD 3000+ with 512ddr ram. I have lost my
mind trying to figure out what is wrong, apart from a re-install I don't know
what else to do

Thanks
