What operating system and service pack are you currently using?
-=-
Which update(s) are you trying to install?
-=-
Which update will not install ? Please provide the exact KB number along
with the name of the installed antivirus|security suite software.

Hi coniluck,

See if running Dial-a-Fix Tool resolves them:

Clearing Temporary Internet files, cookies and history in Internet Explorer

Tools>Internet Options>General
You’ll see Delete Cookies, Delete files, Delete History

For XP they are 2 o 3 solutions, here is two of them Dial-ª-Fix

Go ahead and download Dial-ª-Fix.

<http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix>

Scroll down about 2/3 of the way to Download Dial-ª-fix

Click the Double green checkmark and click Go.

After it has finished, Reboot

Try Windows Update and see if you can get your updates installed.

OR

You might want to try Eddie Bowers tool:

<www.codeplex.com/aureset>

Let us know what hªppens.

Well, I tried both of them but neither did the job. Sigh. You said there
were 2 or 3. If there is a 3rd perhaps it's the "charm."

Sorrowfully,

That was just a link I came across while searching for something else and I
thought it may be of interests.

When you try to install the update from one of the following Web sites, you
may receive error 0x80070670 or error 0x80070663 during the installation of
the update, and the installation does not continue:
• The Office Update Web site
• The Microsoft Update Web site
• An administrative Web site

I'd recommend resubmitting your post here:

Start a help ticket.

Help and Support

http://support.microsoft.com/common/...h=1&gprid=9860

OR

I'd recommend calling 1-866-pcsafety if you are in the U.S. or Canada.

Elsewhere, call your local Microsoft subsidiary, or the number for paid
support in your locale--and ask for the free help with virus or
security-patch related issues. This help extends to spyware removal as well.

Other than that, I'm about out of ideas, so good luck with it.

Let us know maybe someone else can conjure up something else to try.

Good luck

Hi Engel!

Well, I call the 1-800-pcsafety # you gave me and they fixed it in about 5
minutes!!!! He said the dll files had somehow been corrupted and he installed
a patch that fixed it.

So, thanks so much for giving me all the other ideas and the pcsafety #.
Appreciate it.

Gleefully,
Coniluck
