I have a Windows Vista Home basics 32bit, the automatic updates says I have
KB972036 to download and update Ive tried to do this but keep getting error
codes, Ive tried Clean booting, downloading Standalone version , and safe
mode still will not load the update, any help would be appreciated. Security
is Live One Care, only other time had trouble with updates was SP1 then had
to do factory restore to load it after lots of problems

Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 service pack installation fails with
error 0x80004005 (Ignore the title)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971204

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows Vista, but only for Service Pack 2 (SP2)...[yes, even if SP2 hasn't
been offered by Windows Update yet!]...This support for Windows Vista
Service Pack 2 (SP2) is valid until November 26, 2009. Availability of chat
or e-mail support differs depending on your geographic location. Go to
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...4&gprid=582034 &
select appropriate category (i.e., Download issue; Installation issue;
Issues after you install a service pack).

You'll find additional support for Vista SP2 issues in
microsoft.public.windows.vista.general newsgroup and in these forums:
